Norwex for your Face

One of my absolute favourite products by Norwex is the body cloths. I have had skin issues since I was thirteen, and these cloths are the solution!

The body pack by Norwex are basically face cloths that use only water to wash your face. The microfibre picks up all the dirt and grime, as well as makeup! These cloths also include the MicroSilver that is in most Norwex products, so they self-purify within 24 hours and don't get mildewy like other face cloths.

I wasn't so sure about only using water and a cloth to wash my face. I've used practically every acne-fighting product on the planet, from the cheapest one in the drug store to the one you need to order off TV. Nothing seemed to work, including a very strong prescription cream that completely dried out my face.

I started using the body pack to wash my face each morning and night, and I was amazed by how my skin felt, and by how well it cleared up. These cloths really exfoliate the skin and take off all the dirt, grime, and makeup, without leaving it feeling dry. I've heard from others that they noticed their pores were smaller after using the body pack on a regular basis.

And if you didn't hear me say it already, let me say it again: they take off MAKEUP! No more makeup remover for me, these do the trick with just water! They even work with waterproof makeup!

These cloths are a really good deal, and you can get a pack of 3 for only $22.99 before shipping and taxes! They come in vibrant colours (pink, yellow, and blue), vintage colours (taupe, teal, and latte), or graphite. I love the vintage ones, as they also match the bath towels (note: the bath towels are also amazing, and I'll have to save that for a future blog post).

These cloths can be used with a little water for a more exfoliating feel, or a lot of water for a softer feel. I find that even with a little water, the cloths feel great on my skin.

People with more sensitive skin, especially around the eyes, might benefit from using the makeup removal cloths as well. Both these and the body pack have the ability to remove makeup without water, but the makeup removal cloths are softer and have a more suede-like feel to them. A pack of three (blue, green, and purple) is just $19.99. These cloths are smaller than the body pack and are perfect for travelling.

I always wash my body cloths with the rest of my Norwex microfiber using the Ultra Power Plus laundry detergent, but you can use any detergent without fabric softeners or dryer sheets. Also, be sure to wash with other lint-free items, as microfibre is really good at picking up everything!

If you're looking for a gift for someone for Christmas, or just looking to pamper yourself, I'd be happy to give you more information about how to order these, or you can check out my website and order there: www.kelseyjennings.norwex.biz

Cleaning the Bathroom with Norwex

For some reason, cleaning the bathroom has always been my least favourite chore. I think it comes down to cleaning the bathtub; I just really hate having to scrub that huge thing! I've tried everything from highly toxic cleaners that left me with a raw throat, to vinegar which seemed to work, but made my entire house smell. Switching to Norwex was the best decision I have made in this area.

What drew me to cleaning the bathroom with Norwex was mostly the lack of chemicals needed. I used to need to keep a window open while cleaning because the chemicals would affect my asthma and I'd end up getting a cold or finding it hard to breathe for a day or two after cleaning the bathroom. When that's happening every week, you'll try anything for a change!

Switching to Norwex not only saved my respiratory system, but it also cut my cleaning time almost in half! Part of this has to do with the size of the bathroom scrub mitt - it covers more area than a regular cloth would and you don't need to put all your weight into scrubbing!

Here's a breakdown of what I do when I clean the bathrooms:

1. Mirrors: I start with a damp Enviro Cloth and wipe down all reflective surfaces. Then I dry them with a Window Cloth, which leaves my mirrors streak free.

2. Counters: I use the same damp Enviro Cloth to wipe down my counters. No soap or chemicals needed here! If the counters have bad water spots that require some elbow grease, I will use some of the Norwex Cleaning Paste with my damp Enviro Cloth.

3. Tub/Shower: I either use some diluted Blue Diamond Bathroom Cleaner in a spray bottle, or the Descaler (both work really well to break down water stains, bathtub rings, and generally shine up the tub/shower). I will spray, leave a couple minutes (directions for both products are on the bottles), and then wipe down with a damp Bathroom Scrub Mitt. I use the scrubby side first, especially with stubborn bathtub rings, and then give it a quick wipe down with the soft microfiber side.

4. Toilet: I use the same diluted Blue Diamond Bathroom Cleaner in a spray bottle, along with a damp Enviro Cloth (same one as before!) and spray and wipe down the toilet. I finish with adding some concentrated Blue Diamond Bathroom Cleaner around the inside of the toilet bowl, and using the Ergonomic Toilet Brush to scrub the inside.

And that's it! The products I use are:
Enviro Cloth: $17.49
Window Cloth: $19.99
Cleaning Paste (sometimes): $31.99
Blue Diamond Bathroom Cleaner: $29.99
Descaler (sometimes): $29.99
Bathroom Scrub Mitt: $25.49
Ergonomic Toilet Brush: $20.99
TOTAL: $175.93
Not Pictured: Ergonomic Toilet Brush

Now, the total might seem like a lot, but keep in mind that the only things I'll need to replace within a couple years are the Cleaning Paste (which seems to last forever!) and the Descaler (which I only use once in a while) and Blue Diamond Bathroom Cleaner. When you compare that to the price of bathroom cleaning products, you easily save money within two years!

The other way to go about cleaning your bathroom with Norwex is to simply use the Enviro Cloth and Window Cloth. Keep in mind that the Enviro Cloth removes 99% of bacteria from a surface with proper use and laundering. If you're willing to put in a bit of elbow grease, you can clean the entire bathroom with those two cloths and water! When those two are purchased together in the Basic Package, it only costs $33.99!
Basic Package $33.99

There's other packages where you can combine some of the products, and there are different deals each month that often include some of these bathroom basics. To be notified of these sales, send me an email to join my monthly e-newsletter!

Cleaning with Norwex has been a gradual process with me, so if you're interested but hesitant to buy all at once, let me know and I can work with you to see where we can start. Another great option is hosting a party, which often results in lots of free stuff for the hostess! Or you could go the route I did and become a Norwex Independent Sales Consultant and get a great discount on all products as well as some free!

The Magic of Microfiber

"But does it really work?"

That's a question I have been asked quite a few times regarding Norwex microfiber cloths, especially the EnviroCloth. It's a good question to ask too, because it does work, and the reason it works is what sets Norwex apart from other cloths, even other microfiber cloths.

To be considered microfiber, the fibers need only be 1/6th the size of a human hair. Norwex microfiber, on the other hand, is 1/200th the size of a human hair, making it able to pick up the smallest particles and leave a surface much cleaner than other microfiber cloths.

The cloth is also able to hold up to 7 times it's weight in matter. It's different from regular cloths that simply spread dirt and grime around, instead it actually lifts the dirt up and removes it from the surface. But the best part is this: Norwex cloths contain something called MicroSilver that actually self-purifies the cloth within 24 hours. This helps keep the cloths from getting smelly from mould and bacteria growth.

When used and laundered properly, Norwex EnviroCloths (containing the MicroSilver) are able to remove 99% of bacteria from a surface when following the proper care and use instructions. That means you can even use your cloth with JUST WATER to wipe up after working with raw chicken! Here's an awesome video showing how this works, as well as how to properly use the cloth:

For laundering these cloths, you can throw them in the washer and dryer, just don't use any fabric softeners or bleach, as these will coat the microfibre and reduce cleaning ability. Also, make sure to dry with other lint-free laundry, as these cloths really do pick up everything, including laundry lint!

Norwex microfiber can be used wet to clean surfaces and dry to dust, so it really is a multi-purpose cleaning tool. As I've begun using Norwex more regularily, I've stopped buying other cleaning products altogether, and I also will use these clothes instead of paper towel and other kitchen cloths. They really are amazing cloths!

A bit about Norwex

Hello, and welcome to my Norwex blog! I have recently become a Norwex Independent Sales Consultant, and decided that the best way I could share tips and information about Norwex is through a blog! Norwex produces such fantastic products, but unfortunately many people either do not know about Norwex, or do not know how to properly use it. I hope that this blog helps to inform, teach how to use the products properly, and generates discussion about how to make our homes safe havens, free of harmful chemicals.

A Little Norwex History

Norwex began in 1994 in Norway. The founder, Bjorn Nicolaisen, was shown a microfibre cloth that was able to remove bugs from a windshield using only water, and the idea of "cleaning without chemicals" began.

A few years later, my husband's grandmother, Gerd Doroshuk was given one of these microfibre cloths from her sister in Norway. She brought it to Canada and showed it to her friend Debbie Bolton. In 1999, they travelled to Norway and met with Bjorn to start Norwex Enviro Products in Canada.

The Norwex mission is to improve quality of life by radically reducing chemicals in our homes. They do this by creating high quality products that use only water, or enzyme based products that are safe for the environment. Not only is cleaning with Norwex good for the environment, but it also cuts down on time and money! Norwex cloths come with a 2 year warranty when used and laundered properly, and most will last longer than that!

My Mission

Through this blog, I hope to show you why I believe Norwex to be such a fantastic company with fantastic products. I will be posting pictures of the products that I personally use and instructions on how to use them. I will also be sharing monthly specials and great deals, as well as gift ideas. I hope that this blog will help spark discussion about cleaning without chemicals, and I'd love to answer any questions in the comments section below!

I invite you to join with me as we learn more about how we can clean our homes AND help the environment at the same time!
